Sadly, no one in Europe has done a 16″ tyre test this year. I was MEANT to be doing a full 16″ test a few weeks ago, but travelling to france to do the test wasn’t the smartest idea, so that’s been postponed to June. Subscribe for that 🙂 This means for now, we only have a 17″ test, and a TUV test to see how the new Goodyear performs. Of the two, the 16″ TUV test is the most interesting, as it shows the new EfficientGrip Performance 2 wearing 20% better than even the best Michelin can offer, while also having better wet braking performance.

The Prime3 was one of the newest tyres in our test, launched in 2016 to replace the Ventus Prime2. Following its debut, we compared it with the Goodyear EfficientGrip and found them hard to separate, and the same was true in our latest tests. Results were nearly identical in wet conditions, while the Prime3 was just ahead in the dry and for comfort and cost. It was joint first around the dry handling circuit and also managed second place in the dry braking test. It felt the sharpest, too, reducing the amount of steering input required in corners. It was more prone to aquaplaning, though, particularly when turning a corner, and a relative lack of balance meant the back of the car could begin to slide. A wet braking distance of around five metres separated the Hankook from the winning tyre, while tyre noise was middling and it came ninth for fuel-efficiency.

A high-speed summer tire with an asymmetric tread pattern from the Italian manufacturer that is continuing the legendary Pzero line. The tire provides excellent coupling quality on dry and wet asphalt and is also used as a stock option for many high-speed cars. Summer tire from the Dutch manufacturer intended for aggressive and ultra-fast driving in powerful cars. The design of the tire is very similar to the usual UHP Vredestein Ultrac Vorti tire: it has the same asymmetric tread, central rib and wide channels for aquaplaning resistance.
