The treetop walk at MacRitchie Reservoir is a big project and a pioneer of its genre in Singapore. In Indonesia, juice from the pseudobulbs was dropped into the ear to cure earache or tinnitus, and pulverised pseudobulb was plastered on the head or abdomen to treat fever and hypertension. Roots are used for treating rheumatism in the Western Ghats in India.
As military strongholds go, Fort Canning has had a long and varied life. Built in 1859, the fort was an essential site for Singapore’s defense.
